So much can happen within 30 days. Here is a review of our community service events and happenings in the month of August.
On August 4th, STAR joined with SSA (Student Secular Alliance) at the Alamo for Hug and Atheist Day. There were many hugs and even an article written
Each Sunday morning at Lackland AFB – Atheists Humanists Services
The Lackland AFB Initiative has continued to reach record numbers. This prompted the Base Commander to move the location to a larger venue. This is a very welcomed change and allows both services to be extended to a full 2 hours each. The total count for the month is 3308.
2nd Saturday at the San Antonio Food Bank
We had 3 volunteers that helped the food bank clear the weeds to allow for planting of new crops.
Last Sunday of the month Atheists Helping the Homeless
STAR was able to help 101 customers with personal hygiene products, clothes, and prepackaged snacks.
New Social program called Nebula for the little ones.
We also had a Nebula event for the children 5 and younger. They were able to learn about planting vegetables.
