STAR in September 2016

Wow, what a great month! In September we had several donations and a raffle through Twisted Tattoo. We sponsored or attended 7 community service events and 6 social events. That was 13 chances for us to make a difference in each others lives.

We have grown into a community that can handle serving 700 plus trainees each weekend for this months total of 3,346, at the Helping the Homeless event, we helped at total of 101. We also served at the Food Bank helping them with their garden spot that serves the local community of 16 counties. We contribute time and effort to SARA and UIW for the beautification of the parks and wildlife around us. STAR’s Nebula group is creating our child focused groups to teach them about the world in a secular way.

We also take some time to blow off steam and have a great time together as friends and have a few drinks. We are making a difference within our STAR community and in the lives of those around us. Check out a few pictures of our events and come join us as soon as you can.

Lackland AFB – Atheists/Humanist Service – This was one of the largest groups so far. These are only the graduates but there were 924 in attendance on this day. September we had 3346 total in attendance. Not including the their families and friends that come on family weekends.

San Antonio Food Bank – Worked at the community garden to prepare it for planting.

Nebula – STAR kids 13 and under created a scarecrow for a contest at Rainbow Gardens at Thousand Oaks. Its Pokemon themed.

Atheist at Work – Homeless Giveaway had over 100 customers served personal items.

UIW – Clean Up – cleared out invasive plants from the trails.

Game Night at the Gettmans

Starry Night – We all met at LaGloria on a rainy evening. We had good food and great company, of course…and actress Rosie Perez was right behind us to the left of the picture.

We are also launching a new networking program and website in October. So many new opportunities are coming and we need your help.

Please help us keep it going by becoming a paid member, making a donation, or purchasing a t-shirt, sticker, or dog tag. Most of all, we request your participation in the events as we add new ones. We need people to help keep programs organized and all talents are appreciated. Let us know if you feel you can help with one event or many.

Have a great month! Hope to see you soon.
